A Letter from Our Founder
Erika Streett-Lawrence
Founder & Director, A Sovereign Place
When I founded A Sovereign Place in 2021, it was never just about opening a residential home. It was about building something that reflected what I believe care should look like — structured, dignified, intentional, and deeply human.
This isn’t simply a business to me. It is a reflection of my standards, my values, and my commitment to excellence in residential services.
After years in corporate leadership and property management, I understood systems, accountability, and operations. But my experience as a Direct Support Professional reminded me what truly matters — the individuals. The families. The everyday moments that shape quality of life.
A Sovereign Place was built at the intersection of both.
We lead with structure because structure creates safety.
We prioritize compliance because compliance protects dignity.
We build relationships because trust is earned — not assumed.
I oversee every aspect of this home — from staffing and training to policy development, programming, family communication, and regulatory standards. Not because I have to, but because I believe leadership requires presence.
What sets us apart isn’t just our process — it’s the intention behind it.
We take time to understand each resident as an individual.
We collaborate closely with families.
We create programming with purpose.
We operate with accountability.
This work matters.
My exposure to diverse communities and global experiences has shaped how I lead — with cultural awareness, respect for individuality, and a commitment to inclusive care. Every resident deserves to feel seen, valued, and supported in an environment that honors who they are.
What began as a vision has grown into a home I am incredibly proud of. And while I’m grateful for how far we’ve come, I am even more focused on what lies ahead — continued growth, continued excellence, and continued dedication to the individuals we serve.
A Sovereign Place is not just where people live.
It is where they are supported.
Where they are respected.
And where care is delivered with intention.
With gratitude,
Erika Streett-Lawrence
