Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Location: Virginia Beach, Virginia
Position Type: Full-Time / Part-Time
Shift Availability:
Morning Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Overnight Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
One weekend per month is required.
Benefits offered for employees working 30+ hours per week.
Position Overview
A Sovereign Place is seeking caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide day-to-day support for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
This is a hands-on, meaningful role where your presence makes a difference every day. DSPs play an essential role in maintaining a structured, respectful, and supportive residential environment while assisting guests in achieving individualized goals outlined in their service plans.

About Our Setting
Our guests reside in a private three-bedroom home in Virginia Beach. DSPs support individuals not only within the home but also during community outings, medical appointments, and structured activities designed to encourage engagement and independence.
Key Responsibilities
Assist individuals with activities of daily living based on their Individualized Service Plan (ISP)
Support hygiene and toileting needs as required
Complete basic housekeeping tasks
Transport individuals to appointments and community outings
Maintain accurate daily documentation
Ensure a safe and structured environment
Uphold and respect individual rights in accordance with HIPAA regulations
Eligibility Requirements
Must be 18 years of age or older
High School Diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license (required)
Ability to pass required background checks and screenings in accordance with state regulations
Preferred Qualifications
6 months to 1 year of experience supporting individuals with ID/DD or in a healthcare setting
Medication Administration Certification (current)
CPR & First Aid Certification (current)
Clear communication skills for daily documentation

Physical Requirements
This position may require lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and assisting individuals with mobility as needed.
